Rangin Raaten (1956)
The ‘rangeen raatein’ (‘colourful nights’) of the title are the nights of glitter, glamour and entertainment promised to the far-flung villages of Kumaon by the ‘Moti Bai Touring Talkie’, which is referred to [rather ambitiously] by the police as a ‘carnival’. They have a trio of girls who sing and dance; and a bunch of men who indulge in rather more nefarious deeds.
