Makkhee Choos (1956)
Wealthy Maniklal is a miser and lives in Bombay along with his wife, Champa, and son, Narayan, who is a stage artist, and in love with co-worker, Lakshmi. When Lakshmi’s father passes away, she finds out his was indirectly related to Maniklal’s refusal to lend him Rs.1000/-, so she decides to avenge her father’s . Before she could contemplate how to go about this, they find out that Maniklal has passed away. Narayan goes to attend the funeral but finds his father very much alive and agitated because the media had publicized his resulting in a host of greedy relatives descending on his household – hoping to get some cash from his widow. He forces them to live in the stables, and instructs his servant to ill-treat them, so as to compel them to leave.
