Laila Majnu (1953)
The story is about two born lovers Laila (Nutan) and Qais (Shammi Kappor) who are made for each other. They are two bodies but one soul, they can’t live without each other. As is the case with most love stories, they have to pay a heavy price for their love. The people around them, not understanding thier love for each other, try to beat Qais up, seperate them but are not able to kill their love. Laila gets married to a ride prince but her soul belong to Qais. Though the story is old and has been narrated many a times, it still remains as fresh as a flower, a poignant tale which inspired and continues to inspire lovers of all generations…. an embodiment of true romance.
